D202 Board of Education OKs two new elementary school principals

River View and Eagle Pointe elementary schools will get new leadership next school year.

The Board of Education at its Monday, May 22, 2023, regular meeting approved Kelly Gregoire as the next principal at River View Elementary School and Bridget Adkins as the next principal at Eagle Pointe Elementary School.

Gregoire currently is the assistant principal at Central Elementary School and Adkins is the assistant principal for student services at Drauden Point Middle School.

Gregoire started as a second-grade teacher at Creekside Elementary School in 2002. She became the interim assistant principal there in 2015 and became the full-time assistant principal in 2016.

She moved to the same role at Central Elementary in 2018.

“I am honored to be joining the River View staff and community,” Gregoire said.

“Their values and high expectations for students directly match my own, and I look forward to continuing to lead and support the Tiger family.”

“Kelly Gregoire has prepared herself for this opportunity and we are excited to see the great things that the River View students and staff accomplish under her leadership,” said Dr. Scott Fink, District 202 Director of Elementary School Administration and Personnel.

Adkins has been an assistant principal in District 202 at the elementary and middle school levels since 2013.

She served at Creekside, Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, and Drauden Point.

Adkins taught at the elementary and middle school levels in the New Lenox, South Berwyn, and Glen Ellyn school districts.

“As a former parent in the Eagle Pointe community, I look forward to collaborating with the staff, students and families to build positive relationships and continue to develop collaborative and inquisitive learners,” Adkins said.

That parent connection gives Adkins a unique perspective to her new role, Fink said.

“Her administrative experience, focus on connection, and communication will serve Eagle Pointe’s learning community well,” he said.

Both principals will begin on July 1, 2023.
