We are #202proud of the Charles Reed Elementary School fifth-grade Leadership Team for organizing a month-long food drive. Students counted and boxed donated food each week for Bags of Hope. More than 1,500 items were donated at the drive's end! Way to go, Cougars!

Charles Reed Elementary School students recently learned more about the Lunar New Year in the Media Center. Each grade level heard a different story about the Lunar New Year celebrations and the myth of The Great Race: The Story of the Chinese Zodiac. Students were then challenged to pick one of the 12 (Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat/Sheep/Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig) Chinese zodiac animals and make it out of Legos. 2026 is the year of the Horse.

One lucky Charles Reed Elementary School kindergarten student won a ride to school in a fire truck last month. The Joliet Fire Department picked up the student and a friend from home, gave them a tour of the fire station, and dropped them at school. #202proud

What a day! The 73rd Plainfield Community Homecoming Parade filled downtown with music, school spirit, and community pride this past weekend!
This year’s theme, “Literary Legends – Celebrating Famous Characters from the Last 100 Years,” honored the Plainfield Area Public Library’s centennial. Leading the parade was Grand Marshal Mindy Jackson, the library’s School Services Librarian, who has spent decades inspiring a love of reading in District 202 students. 📚✨
A wonderful tradition for decades, the parade once again showcased the energy, talent, and pride of our schools and community.
